Fitness for Service (FFS) is a standard and best practice that has been utilized for long in the oil and gas industry to determine the fitness of in-service equipment for continued use.

 

Fitness For Service (FFS) Assessment as per API 579/ASME FFS-1 along with Remaining Life Assessment have demonstrated benefits in a wide range of projects. API RP 579-1/ASME FFS-1, Fitness for Service, Second Edition, provides guidelines regarding the methodology of inspections to be conducted to ensure that a material or piece of equipment is safe for use.
